2013 sports grants announced | The RiotACT

Andrew Barr has announced the winners of the 2013 Sport and Recreation Grants.

Today I joined 69 sporting organisations who will share more than $2.3 million through the 2013 Sport and Recreation Grant Program (SRGP).

The ACT Government recognises the importance of investment in sport and recreation in our community. The grants help organisations to increase participation and become more professional in their delivery of sport and physical activity opportunities for Canberrans. And it will help ensure Canberra remains the healthiest and most active community in the country.

Projects funded in 2013 include:

? $13,900 to Basketball ACT for stadium scoring/officiating system;

? $20,000 to Black Mountain Rowing Club for a rowing pontoon project;

? $10,800 to Canberra Yacht Club for the purchase of boats for the Buoyed Up program to benefit disadvantaged juniors; and

? 20,000 to Skate Australia for the continued development of the ACT skateboard hub.

Other grants getting rather more money than $20,000 include:

    ? $60k for soccer
    ? $28k for soccer
    ? $22k for little athletics
    ? $38k for rowing

    ? $38k for bowls
    ? $22k for league
    ? $56k for the rifle club
    ? $60k for gymnastics
    ? $38k for netball
    ? $24k for netball
    ? $22k for orienteering
    ? $28k for Pines Tennis
    ? $25k for lifesaving
    ? $22k for snow sports
    ? $60k for softball
    ? $45k for sports medicine
    ? $38k for squash
    ? $22k for swimming
    ? $22k for table tennis
    ? $60k for tennis ACT
    ? $38k for touch football
    ? $60k for triathlon
    ? $38k for volleyball
