New Orleans police have arrested one suspect and are searching for another in connection to a shooting outside of a bar in the 1500 block of Lafreniere Street last Sunday. Darryl Galle, 24, was booked with attempted first-degree murder and criminal damage to property after he was arrested for chasing down a 51-year-old man on Oct. 28 outside of PJ's Bar at the intersection of Lafreniere and Hamburg Streets, according to an arrest warrant filed in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
According to the record, the victim told police that a man named 'Yank', whom he believed had shot his son in 2002, was at the bar with Galle around 1:40 a.m. and that the two men turned their backs to him. The victim told cops he got up to leave the bar and was followed by both Galle and "Yank," whom police later identified as Clarence Glenn Walker, and started to run once he noticed both men following him.
Galle and Walker then allegedly began firing at the victim, shooting him three times. The victim, who later told police he felt a "sharp burning sensation" in his left thigh, upper back and upper right shoulder, escaped the scene by running to a nearby porch and hiding as he called the police.
Police recovered more than 32 spent 9 mm casings, and both suspects are believed to have been shooting a handgun. The shooting also damaged several cars and a business nearby.
Galle, who was identified by a detective working the case a member of the Young Gunners gang in the old St. Bernard Housing Development, was picked out of a photo lineup by the victim and taken into custody on Nov. 2.
Galle, whose bond was set at $355,000, is no stranger to local police. He has a slew of prior arrests, including drug-related offenses, burglary and armed robbery.
Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Walker, who was implicated though a Crimestopper's tip. He is described as a 32-year-old man with dreadlocks, approximately 5-foot-5 and weighing 325 to 350 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
