The HSUS Assists with Distribution of Pet Food and Supplies to ...

The Humane Society of the United States is collaborating with other? agencies in New Jersey to provide much-needed pet food and supplies to pet owners impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The HSUS, St. Hubert?s Animal Welfare Center, Monmouth County SPCA and Animal Welfare Association have established four distribution sites in affected counties. Any individual, family or humane organization that needs supplies for their companion animals is eligible to receive food and supplies, including bowls, litter, leashes, pet beds and comfort items.

?Thousands of pet owners who were affected by Hurricane Sandy will be struggling to rebuild their homes and replace their belongings, so The Humane Society of the United States and our partners are happy to alleviate some stress by providing pet food and supplies,? said Kathleen Schatzmann, New Jersey state director for The HSUS. ?Our pets are a part of our families, so it?s our top priority to give pet owners resources to keep their animals safe and healthy.?

PetSmart Charities, PetCo Foundation, TJ Maxx, Purina, members of the community and local animal welfare organizations have generously donated food and supplies to be distributed through the sites. Those interested in picking up food and supplies are urged to call the distribution site before arriving to ensure that their needs can be met.
