The popularity of Yoga has exploded in the last decade, and rightly so. It is unparalleled for improving one?s sense of wellbeing, whilst also improving balance, flexibility and strength. There are numerous companies online that specialise in yoga holidays, retreats and excursions. Some combine activity holidays with yoga activities; for example, you are able to book Surf Yoga or Ski Yoga holidays (surf/ski during the day with meditation and yoga in the evening).

Snowboarding/Skiing Holidays

Skiing and snowboarding is now more affordable and accessible than ever. Every major continent has skiing and snowboard slopes in some shape or form, and travel costs have come down dramatically in recent years. This means that there the winter sports are enjoying recent popularisation.

Those who have been on a skiing or snowboarding holiday will know just how physically demanding it can be. Traversing the slopes with your gear is physically demanding enough, let alone the actual skiing/snowboarding! After a week of winter sports, you will be physically drained, but thoroughly invigorated!

There?s nothing quite like exploring the rural hills and mountains of the countryside. A traditional hiking holiday is a fantastic way to get back to nature whilst burning calories. A hillside hike can burn a staggering amount of energy, whilst being amongst nature is great for the soul. These holidays needn?t be expensive; simply find some self-catering rural accommodation and start exploring!

Biking Holiday

Road biking and mountain biking are both undeniably great ways to get in shape. Mountain biking can be extremely challenging, depending on location, and road biking also presents a unique set of challenges. Preference dictates the kind of biking holiday one should plan, but both are great for fitness (both strength building and endurance).

Similarly to hiking holidays, biking holidays needn?t be expensive. You can simply find some self-catering accommodation in the area you?d like to explore. Rural locations are best suited to biking, although nowhere is truly off-limits!

Health and fitness holidays are becoming increasingly popular, and there?s no sign of this trend slowing down. Be adventurous and think outside of the box when planning an active holiday. There are many companies that specialise in this type of trip, although there is nothing wrong with planning your own activities. This is usually a great way to skip the middle man and save some money! Always make sure you are suitably insured and in a good state of health before partaking in a fitness holiday!
